Yay, October Currently!!!

It's time for the amazing Farley's Currently, yay!  Click the link below to join.
Oh' boy fourth grade

I think this months Currently is super cute.  I always have such a fun time in October with Halloween- it's my 2nd favorite holiday.  We already decorated our house for it!

Loving-  We have a field trip to a local pumpkin patch on Friday and it is such a fun place.  I am so excited to go!  There is a hay ride, corn maze, petting zoo, equipment to climb, giant slides, etc.  The kids have soooo much fun and so do the teachers.  I like buying a little special something there each year.  This year I get to wear the tie-dye shirt I got from last years field trip!  Tehe.

Thinking- I need to get my self in gear for working on words activities.  I would like to freshen up the routines.

Wanting-  In ABQ, we host an International Balloon Fiesta each year, beginning the 1st weekend in Oct.  We will go to it the following weekend, but we are super excited it is starting.  There are balloons of all shapes and sizes, fun games and contests that balloons take part in, and tons of yummy food!  We always like to go on the special shapes days.  My favorite is the Darth Vader balloon from Denmark.  They have people dressed as storm troopers for pic taking opportunities.  Neat!!!

Trick-or-Treat-  I have a quick "Read the Room" freebie below.  Hope you enjoy it.

Happy Tuesday,

Hump Day Linky

Love this idea for a linky from Fun in K/1

What day is it?!?!  Hump Day, what, what!!!  Love that silly camel from the commercial.  Makes me smile every time.

So, here is my helpful hint....

From day 1 of being a teacher, I have found it difficult to keep work at work and home at home.  I ALWAYS work at home.  ALWAYS!  I cannot seem to stop.  I have so much grading, planning, sorting, and researching to do.  ALWAYS!  I made a promise to myself that this year would be different.  It is.  I am making every effort to leave work by 4:30 every day.  I watch the clock like a hawk when getting materials ready, grading, and planning.
When 4:30 hits, I drop it all and head out to get my beautiful 1st and 4th grade daughters, and head home.  It has been super hard to do, but I am doing it.  I am already a nicer mom because of it.  I am able to breath on the way home and hear about my kid's days, instead of panic about all the stuff I now have to do at home.
I am getting most things done (not all as that seems physically impossible), because besides the time limit, I also am working really hard on stream lining my teaching.  More to come on that another day.

Sorry, that was long winded.  Helpful hint, the short version- set a quitting time and stick to it!

Currently

September is here!  Time for a Farley's Currently.  Join in people- it's fun!

Loving:  My new students are so sweet.  I am having a really good time learning about them and am already laughing a lot with them.  Should be a great year!

Thinking:  3 days for a weekend is more like it!!!  I could do that all the time!

Wanting:  Would be great to have someone to delegate all my boring home jobs to!  More time for fun.  :)

<3  1.  My 5 month old puppy is crazy!!!  We have been working on the chewing thing, but he is so tough.  He bites, jumps, chews, climbs on furniture, and other naughty dog behaviors....
I have been working with him but he seems to be proving himself pretty stubborn.  We use a water bottle and he practically runs away when he sees it...doesn't like it at all.  As soon as it is away, back to being naughty, ugh!!!
2.  I am signed up for another run.  I just completed the Blacklight 5K Run with a friend.

Now, I have my daughters and I signed up for the Chips and Salsa Run Kid K.  Should prove a lot easier since it's only 1K....then I shouldn't have to carry my youngest!  We'll see if they eat the salsa though- they don't like anything spicy.  I can't wait, yumm!
3.  I have been leaving school at 4:30 everyday.  This is big for me as I tend to stay FOREVER.  I am trying to draw a line in the sand, if you will, and choose time with family this year.  I need to do this for myself and my family.  I feel I am missing so much of my babies and hubbies time.  Work will always be there, always something to finish.  I don't want to miss out on my family just to organize my room or grade papers.  I am Type A for sure, so it is hard to draw that line.  Wish me luck in keeping it up all year.

Enjoy your Monday,
Amy

Meet Up

I was able to meet up with Melissa Cloud from A Teaspoon of Teaching.  We had a fun time chatting about teacher "stuff" and eating some yummy food.  I had a giant pile of french toast covered in fluffy whipped cream.  I forgot to take a pic of it before I ate it, oops!  We talked about our schools and what we enjoy doing in our spare time (Ha, ha- what spare time?!?!).  We chatted about our families.  I am glad we met up and took time out of our schedules to get to know each other.  We plan on doing it again.

I am the one in polka dots.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Phew, it's the weekend!

Wow, what a busy week.  The first week of school is done for me and boy am I exhausted.  I am trying very hard to keep on top of all things at school that tend to take me forever (prep time and grading).  So far, so good.  I had hoped to be on top of my house work as well, but not so good, so far.  Booo!

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs for another installment of...
fiveforfriday2

1.  I have noticed all the hub-bub about the Erin Condren planners.  They look very neat, but I was a procrastinator and did not think about ordering until it was too late for me.  Sooo, I went to the teacher store in town and got one there.  I actually am very happy with it.  It is cute and has room for everything.  I only wish it had tabs so I could flip to each part easily.  I will probably end up adding some for myself.

2.  My girls had a great first week back to school!  They both decided the back to school hair cut would be a big CHOP to their hair.  This was not easy for me to say yes to.  BUT, it is their hair.  So, there are some new hair styles this year for my precious girls.

3.  I used a cute frog word wall freebie from the lovely Amy Marshall from The Resource(ful) Room.  It also has Daily 5 posters and bulletin items.  I love it and it turned out very cute.  Thanks Amy!

I took these pics in a hurry, so I ended up with a lot of my "beautiful" lights in it.  I don't know about you, but I have never liked school lights.  So... institutional.  Although, I should not complain because I have a huge and lovely window in my room.

4.  I do not like wasting time.  I am sure you agree with that statement.  I use a trick each year that I learned from my amazing teammates from the past few years.  I go through my entire planner and use teeny tiny labels to plot my enrichments for each week for the entire year.  It saves time and writing.  Our fabulous front office -woman of many hats- prints the labels for me.  I just have to put them in my planner using my printed out schedule for the school year.

5.  I will be meeting up today with the sweet Melissa Cloud from-

We are having a bloggy breakfast meet up in ABQ, where we both live.  Although, technically I am an East Mountain girl.  I say I am from ABQ because I am there all the time for work and everything else.  I will post some pics tomorrow and tell you all about our fun!  I am excited to meet her.  I am also excited that we are meeting up at Flying Star, yummy!

Forever.....

fiveforfriday2

Feels like forever since I've linked up with Doodle Bugs for their Friday 5 (on a Saturday)!  I am trying to get back in the swing, so here goes....

#4

I am getting close to having my house totally organized and purged of all extra "junk" that we don't need/want/use.  Just in time for school!!!

#5

I have been cutting, gluing, and sending items in for laminating for days now.  I will post a pic of all the fun things I purchased and will be placing on my walls from TpT and blogs very soon.  I can't wait to show you what cute things I am lucky enough to have found from all the great bloggers out there.

Happy Saturday,
Amy
